SCHINDLER'S LIST
ATMA Classique / ACD2 2579 - ©2009
Release : March 2009
Recorded with the Symphony Orchestra of Bienne in Switzerland in March 2008, Alexandre Da Costa illuminates all the beauty of John William's masterpiece with his composition for the movie "Shindler's List " (Steven Spielberg) which won the Oscar of the best original music in 1993. This story, full of nobility in the heart of the big tragedy of the Holocaust, allows to create a dramatic music as well as aspects of the tenderness and the nostalgia for the Jews of this time. Furthermore, with the Swiss-American composer Ernest Bloch whose Jewish origins are a big source of inspiration, the Hebraic Suite for violin and orchestra presents us a solemn, stormy and tragic style and, at the same time, tinged with contemplation. Marc Pantillon on the piano adds his touch with the Grosso Concerto in the baroque style. Alexandre plays on Stradivarius "Di Barbaro" 1727 and a Sartory bow, lent by Canimex.

HENDRIX - McCARTNEY - YSAY
Disques XXI-21 / XXI-CD 2 1422 - ©2002
There are many tribute recordings to Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970), in rock, jazz and other styles, but in this recording,
Alexandre Da Costa uses the class and magic of classical piano and violin to explore these extraordinary melodies born
from a soul-burning guitar.
A Leaf is Sir Paul McCartney’s second composition in the classical idiom and
was conceived for solo piano.
As of today, Alexandre Da Costa’s rendition is certainly the best recording of this work.
